Let God Use You.5/24/2013 I'll start with a cliché... If you would have told me 3 years ago where I would be now, I probably would have thought you were crazy.
Looking back at my life, I don't remember thinking that God would be able to use me. I figured that I was too normal and didn't have any characteristics that would stand out enough to even be noticed by Him. I thought that my life would come and go and I would end up serving in a local church at a very low capacity. I knew I wanted to help out with youth ministry because of the impact that my youth pastor and youth leaders had made in my life, but beyond that, I didn't think much of it. 3 years and 7 months ago, I had the opportunity to begin serving within Citipoint Church in the youth ministry. My girlfriend, at the time, (soon to be fiancé and then to become my wife) were new to the church and had an invitation from the youth pastor to help out. We decided to do so and were very excited to be a part of students lives. Not long after, we had the opportunity to lead on a deeper and more involved level, and were delighted to get to do that. Just over 8 months ago, I was asked to be a part of the staff at Citipoint Church as the youth pastor and was honored by what my Pastor saw in me. I have now had the opportunity of getting to lead and disciple teenagers for over 3 years and am more excited about the future now than I ever have been. My wife is a major part of the leadership team along with some other incredible, God honoring leaders. The youth ministry is growing and God is doing something major RIGHT NOW! What it comes down to is this... There is not a week that goes by that I am not completely humbled by the opportunity to lead and serve such incredible students on a weekly basis and be a part of their lives. They help me to grow, help me to learn and help me to understand the things that God has for us. Because we were never designed to be miserable - but to love and serve Jesus and people. It's encouraging to know that God sees more in you and I than we see in ourselves.
